The overall quality of these Chelsea boots by DM exceeds all the 1460 I saw!! So, these are worth the money, plus they’re kind of special. Really lovely shape and the elastic doesn’t loosen like on Blundstones, at least not year. I bought them towards the end of 2019 and have been wearing them almost daily ever since. The chelsea ones I bought were limited edition in color butterscotch.
I’m, however, not sure if dressy oxford shoes are ever comfortable… But still these shoes are not comfortable. I fixed the problem by buying some hq insoles. The soles are very sturdy, not bouncy, and the insoles have a strange middle section, an edge of two parts of the insole stitched together, which starts hurting after a couple of hours. I bought them for work, so I walk a lot in those. Talking about 1460 type of boots.Īs for my oxford brogue ones… they look nice, but boy, they’re uncomfortable. At this point, it’s just a brand you’re paying for with really upsetting quality. But I still think they’re not worth 200€. So, unless you’re just a sucker for a brand, I highly recommend looking into Solovair! Or some other models of Docs, or maybe made in England. The made in China were truly horrific! It’s ridiculous someone would even consider paying almost 200€ for a pair. The ones I saw were made in China and Thailnand. It’s not too rough or plastic-like, like the ones I saw today at the store. I bought em in 2015 and been wearing them almost daily in warm and extremely cold weather till 2020. I’m a bit particular about shoes and loove leather shoes/boots! Today I went to a store to check out some docs, because my 1460 are dying and will eventually need to be replaced. I own three pairs of docs (Pascal 1460 smooth, brogue oxford shoes, and chelsea boots butterscotch ones). I think it depends on the model and where they were manufactured. Solovairs are a great alternative, btw, and I find them to be much better value for money. I found myself to be highly critical of the leather type used in the specific model and making purchasing decisions along this, buying DMs only during sales or vintage.
However, given the fact that there aren't many alternatives that offer the true DM-vibe due to legal disputes, reality is that if you are after the style, you'd be forced to dish out that kind of money anyways. Same goes with sole splitting, although I haven't had an issue myself yet.
#Is loms actually worth buying crack#
Personally, I find their smooth leather to have declined greatly in quality compared to the leather they used back in the day, it seems to crack much easier, and the texture is a bit weird on shoes I have recently looked at in stores. From my personal experience, prices have taken a steep hike since I bought my first pairs about 10 years back (for the record, they were widely available on sale for around 70-80€ back then, nowadays you're kinda lucky to find a pair on sale for 120-140€), while manufacturing quality has not improved or even declined, especially when I look at recent boots and shoes made from their smooth leather. Although I am a huge Dr Martens lover, I am a bit torn when it comes to value for money.
